Job summary

NTNU's Department of Computer Science at Gjøvik invites applications for an Associate Professor in near-real-time interactive systems development. You will research and teach in games, immersive technologies, and engine architecture, contributing to lab activities and open research artefacts.

The role requires a PhD, a strong publication record, and hands-on C/C++ coding. Norwegian language skills are required within three years. You will lead education across bachelor, master and PhD programs.

Qualifications

PhD in computer science or related field.
Demonstrated research track record in games and interactive systems.
Strong programming skills including low-level languages (C).
Hands-on design and construction of near-real-time interactive software systems.
Excellent teaching skills across undergrad, master and PhD levels.

Responsibilities

Lead research and research-based education in games and near-real-time interactive systems.
Shape department research direction within the Games and Immersive Technology Lab.
Contribute to educational profile and learning environment with colleagues and external stakeholders.
Deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate, graduate and PhD levels in systems programming and game development.
Engage in applications for external funding (e.g., Research Council of Norway).
Build and maintain open-source prototypes, tools and artefacts to connect research with practice.
