Job summary

NTNU – Norwegian University of Science and Technology invites applications for an Associate Professor in Design of Safety-Critical Systems. The appointment is affiliated with the NTNU Shore Control Lab and emphasizes human-centred design, HCI and safety-critical systems for maritime domains.

You will teach at bachelor, master and PhD levels, conduct internationally recognized research, and pursue external funding while guiding education of designers and engineers in Trondheim.

Qualifications

• A doctoral degree in design, interaction design, industrial design, or a closely related field.
• Pedagogical competence is required.
• Experience with experimental design research, user studies, interaction design and industrial design.
• Strong technological understanding and experience collaborating with technology environments and industry.
• Documented research competence with publications at a high international level.
• Good English language skills, both written and spoken; Norwegian at B2 level is required.

Responsibilities

• Teach and supervise at bachelor’s, master’s and PhD levels.
• Further develop existing courses or create new formats in HCI, human-centred design and safety-critical systems.
• Conduct high-level international research in human-centred technology for maritime domains.
• Investigate design of safety-critical systems across maritime domains including vessels, robotics and autonomous systems.
• Collaborate with industry and public sector on research and innovation projects.
• Publish in recognised international journals and conferences.
• Disseminate research results to academia, industry and society and secure external funding.
