Job summary

NTNU invites applications for an Associate Professor to contribute to teaching and research within the Department of Design and the NTNU Shore Control Lab. The role focuses on human-centered design, safety-critical systems, and autonomous maritime technologies.

You will lead courses, supervise students at bachelor’s, master’s and PhD levels, and develop new research initiatives. You will work half-time in teaching and half-time in research, advancing external collaborations, and securing

Qualifications

• A doctoral degree (PhD) in design, interaction design, industrial design, or a closely related field
• Pedagogical competence
• Experience with experimental design research, user studies, interaction design and industrial design
• Strong technological understanding and experience collaborating with technology environments and industry
• Documented research competence with publications at a high international level
• Good language skills in English, both written and spoken
• Norwegian language skills at level B2
• Documented basic competence in teaching and supervision as per NTNUs guidelines

Responsibilities

• Teaching and supervision at bachelor’s, master’s and PhD levels
• Further develop existing courses or develop new courses in human-machine interaction and safety-critical design
• Conduct research at a high international level on human-centered maritime technology
• Research on safety-critical systems in the maritime domain
• Collaborate across disciplinary boundaries with industry and the public sector
• Publish in recognised international journals and conferences
• Disseminate research results to academia, industry and society and secure external funding
