Job summary

JDE Peet’s in Utrecht invites applications for a Science & Modelling Intern starting September 2026. You will adapt and implement models from literature to deepen understanding of coffee brewing processes, gaining hands-on experience with advanced modelling and data analysis in a food engineering context.

Responsibilities include mathematical modelling of brewing kinetics, simulating extraction, data visualization, and presenting findings to internal teams.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a BSc or MSc program for the entirety of the internship.
• Strong Python programming and data analysis skills.
• English fluency in speech and writing.
• Interest in mathematical modelling of brewing processes.

Responsibilities

• Mathematical modelling of brewing kinetics.
• Adapting models from literature for porous media.
• Simulating extraction of dissolved solids and components.
• Data analysis and visualization to validate models.
• Share findings with internal teams.
• Assist with small-scale experiments.
