Job summary

VIA Logistics is seeking a Transport Operations Lead in Venlo to run the daily transport operation for a major fashion client and to lead a team of five transport coordinators. You will book shipments, monitor orders, and ensure deadlines are met while maintaining a strong client relationship.

You will report to a transport manager and play a key role in improving service, cost efficiency, and team development.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team of transport coordinators.
• Fluent English; Dutch is a plus.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Background in logistics transport operations.

Our client is an international logistics service provider with offices across the world and a strong presence in the Netherlands. In the Venlo region, the Contract Logistics division manages freight and distribution for well-known international brands, with transport flows across Europe. The organisation is growing, investing in technology and has recently automated one of its warehouses. Teams are trusted to take ownership and make decisions.

As Transport Operations Lead you run the daily transport operation for one major fashion client and lead a team of five transport coordinators. They process orders and book shipments through the transport management system; you keep them focused, motivated and moving in the same direction.

The client is ambitious and fast-moving, and demand does not always match the forecast. You are the calm, solution-oriented point of contact who sets priorities, solves issues at the source and always looks for practical ways forward. When something is not feasible, you explain why and come back with a workable alternative. You report to an experienced transport manager with a background in road transport. He built his department from the ground up and strongly believes in developing people.

What you will do

• Lead and coach five transport coordinators: set the daily priorities, give feedback, build ownership and keep energy high.
• Keep the transport operation running smoothly: monitor orders and shipments, solve escalations and make sure deadlines and agreements are met.
• Be the daily contact for the client, the warehouse and internal colleagues; give clear answers and push back when needed.
• Keep an eye on service, quality and costs, and pick up improvements together with your team.
• Work with carrier partners and account management to keep customer promises realistic.
• Monitor performance, share insights and suggest smarter ways of working.
• Experience in transport, preferably as a senior transport coordinator, planner, team leader or customer service professional in logistics.
• Experience leading, coaching or guiding colleagues is a plus, whether in a formal or informal role. We value potential as much as experience.
• A positive, hands-on attitude. You get people on board, stay calm when things get busy and can push back when needed while maintaining a strong relationship.
• A service-minded and solution-oriented mindset: you look for ways to make it work.
• Fluent English, both spoken and written. Dutch is a plus.
• Vocational (mbo+) or higher education level, or equivalent experience.
• Comfortable working with systems and data, with a willingness to learn.

• A salary of up to €4,500 gross per month, depending on your experience, plus 8% holiday allowance.
