Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer, AI Tooling based in the Netherlands to own architecture and tooling for AI-enabled developer platforms. You will drive multi-quarter initiatives, foster developer productivity, and guide engineering teams in adopting AI-powered tooling.

You will collaborate with leadership to shape the roadmap, mentor engineers, and ensure reliable integrations across systems, while maintaining high standards for quality and scalability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2–3+ years operating at Senior or Staff level.
• Experience building and operating developer platforms and CI/CD tooling.
• Experience leading adoption of AI-powered developer tools.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture, development, deployment, and evolution of developer platform and AI tooling.
• Lead multi-quarter technical projects with milestones and measurable improvements.
• Build and operate systems for developer productivity, CI/CD, observability, and engineering metrics.
• Lead adoption of AI-powered developer tools across engineering teams.
• Define technical direction and roadmap for your area and collaborate with leadership.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and guidance.
• Ensure reliable integrations with third-party APIs and SaaS.
• Own operational health and iterate on improvements.
