Booking.com, Amsterdam, is looking for a Software Engineer to join the AI Application Platform, building the core backend that enables product teams to rapidly develop and deploy AI-powered experiences at scale.

You will design scalable services, tackle performance and reliability challenges, and collaborate with ML engineers, data scientists, and data engineers to productionize models in cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in software engineering with backend or platform focus.
• Experience with distributed systems, performance tuning, reliability best practices.
• Proficiency in Java, Scala, or Python.
• Experience in AI/ML production deployments and model behavior.
• Experience with containerization and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect AI infrastructure and prototype quickly to validate ideas.
• Benchmark and integrate new AI/ML tools to meet business needs.
• Build scalable backend services for real-time AI inference.
• Collaborate with ML/data engineers to productionize models.
• Own system reliability, performance tuning, and observability.
• Grow technical and interpersonal skills through knowledge sharing.
