Job summary

Axelera AI is seeking a Staff AI Application Engineer - Heterogeneous Computing to build our model enablement platform and optimize model execution across the Metis AIPU, host CPUs and accelerators. You will work across the frontend, graph compiler, runtime and application pipeline to push performance.

The role blends architecture with hands-on engineering, using AI coding agents in daily work. We welcome seasoned field engineers and engineering leads who want to stay hands-on and mentor teams

Qualifications

• 8+ years of engineering experience in systems, compilers, runtimes or performance with ownership of system-level design.
• Hands-on experience with heterogeneous computing across CPU, GPU, DSP, NPU or FPGA.
• Strong C++ and Python programming skills.
• Familiarity with ML graph representations and compiler concepts like graph capture, lowering and partitioning.

Responsibilities

• Build the model enablement platform and agent harness to partition, compile, run and profile models.
• Own how a PyTorch/ONNX model is captured, analyzed and split across devices with placement tags.
• Extend heterogeneous execution to large models and multi-model pipelines.
• Collaborate with graph compiler and runtime teams to optimize end-to-end performance.
• Profile and verify performance improvements in the full pipeline.
