Job summary

Axelera AI is seeking a Senior AI Application Engineer to own LLM and VLM support on Metis and Europa AIPUs, from model studies to shipping features in the Voyager SDK.

The role blends ML expertise with software engineering, leveraging AI coding agents to build, test and verify production-grade code, APIs and tooling while collaborating with engineers and managers to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with ML inference focus.
• Solid understanding of transformer inference: attention variants, KV caching, prefill vs decode, sampling, tokenization.
• Working knowledge of LLM quantization and related challenges.
• Strong Python and PyTorch, and experience shipping production software.
• Daily use of AI coding agents on real codebases.

Responsibilities

• LLM/VLM study: analyze new models and architectures and prototype on Metis/Europa.
• Productization: turn results into Voyager SDK features with stable APIs, tests and release gates.
• Model-side contracts: own the PyTorch reference with quantization baked in and associated inputs/outputs.
• Pipeline integration: integrate LLM/VLM serving into the Voyager SDK pipeline builder.
• Quality: measure accuracy vs reference and address gaps.
• Bring-up platform: extend environments with hardware access and closed-loop evaluations.
• GenAI direction: advise Voyager SDK needs for GenAI, agents and edge speech.
