Job summary

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Site Automation Lead for the Leiden, Netherlands site. You will own the automation lifecycle (ISA-95 L1-3), lead a high-performing team, and collaborate across Operations, Quality, MSAT, Engineering and IT to advance compliance and operational excellence.

Responsibilities include defining strategy, delivering on the automation roadmap, enabling digital manufacturing, and ensuring regulatory readiness in a GMP environment.

Qualifications

• BSc in Engineering, Science or related technical field with 10+ years in manufacturing.
• Or MSc/MBA/PhD with 8+ years in manufacturing.
• 4+ years of leadership and delivery experience in a pharmaceutical or GMP regulated manufacturing environment in automation or IT.
• 4+ years of proven experience within a pharmaceutical or GMP regulated manufacturing environment in automation or IT role.
• Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing automation organization.
• Define and execute the site automation and execution systems strategy.
• Drive the digital manufacturing roadmap and continuously improve automation systems.
• Deliver automation projects ensuring compliance, safety, on-time delivery, and proper documentation.
• Maintain GMP and EHS compliance including SOP adherence and CAPA management.
• Oversee lifecycle management of execution systems and interfaces.
• Provide technical and operational leadership for 24/7 system support.
• Manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships and vendors.
• Drive governance and continuous improvement aligned with regulatory needs.
