Job summary

Solar Mining Services is seeking a qualified technician to build and service new units for customers, with exposure to underground work when required. The role emphasizes safety, maintenance, and compliance with health and safety standards at mine sites.

Responsibilities include assembling units, wiring control panels, repairing leaks, conducting statutory inspections every three months, and keeping accurate spares records.

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Must be medically fit
• Must understand the importance of working safely
• Absolutely NO previous criminal record
• Valid driver's license without endorsements

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing invoices of goods delivered to workshop
• Raise purchase requisitions in system for ordering of spares
• Assemble all pump assemblies on new units and install
• Assemble all filters and hoses on new units
• Fit plugs to all electrical cables and fit electrical control panel to new unit
• Connect all wires inside control panel
• Repair any leaks when commissioning new unit
• Diagnose and repair any faults that may occur when commissioning unit
• Weekly critical spares stock level check in workshop
• Record keeping of all the spares delivered to mines
• Repair/overhaul any units that may come back from the mines
• Carry out statutory inspections on units at mines every 3 months
• Participate in the investigation incidents/accidents as and when required
• Use all relevant tools, machinery and equipment to comply with current occupational health & safety act.
• Fully understand all relevant general Health, Safety and Environment issues pertaining to the relevant trade discipline
• To work in hazardous areas taking all safety precautions to prevent danger and damage to equipment
• Do maintenance work in and around workshop area
• Keep workshop clean and tidy

The purpose of this role is to build new units for customers and to provide a comprehensive support service to all sites, ensuring compliance with safety standards and procedures, Ideal candidate will be required to work underground from time to time.
