Daifuku Airport Netherlands is seeking a Senior Technical Buyer to go beyond day-to-day purchasing and act as a strategic partner for the organization and its suppliers. You will work across engineering, commerce, and international collaboration to shape procurement strategy and deliver complex projects.

You will own the procurement domain, lead negotiations, and develop supplier strategies while balancing quality, cost, and risk.

Qualifications

• HBO-level education and at least 5 years in a technical procurement environment.
• Experience with strategic purchasing, international sourcing, and contract management.
• Strong leadership, proactive mindset, and excellent negotiation skills.

For our organization Daifuku Airport Netherlands, we are looking for a Senior Technical Buyer who looks beyond daily purchasing and plays a key role in building strong, sustainable supplier relationships and strategic procurement solutions.

What will you do as a Senior Technical Buyer?

Daifuku Airport Netherlands Group develops and delivers complex systems for airports worldwide. In an environment where delivery reliability directly affects project success, procurement plays a critical role. In this role, you are much more than a purchaser: you are a strategic partner for the organization and for our suppliers. You move between engineering, commerce, and international collaboration and have a direct impact on the success of our projects. Your responsibilities include:

• You take ownership of the entire procurement domain and focus on results;
• You develop and implement strategic procurement plans and supplier strategies;
• You lead complex (international) negotiations and contract processes;
• You build and develop sustainable partnerships with suppliers;
• You initiate and realize improvements within processes, cost structures, and collaboration;
• You act as a sparring partner for Engineering, Project Management, and Supply Chain;
• You oversee the entire field and make well-considered choices between quality, cost, delivery time, and risk;
• You identify market developments and translate them into concrete strategic actions.

What do you bring?

You are a senior professional who provides direction, makes decisions, and involves others in them. You combine technical knowledge with commercial insight and have a clear vision of procurement. Preferably, you have demonstrable experience in a technical environment, where delivery reliability and quality under time pressure were critical factors. In addition, you possess:

• HBO working and thinking level with at least 5 years of experience in a technical procurement environment;
• Demonstrable experience with strategic purchasing, international sourcing, and contract management;
• Strong leadership qualities and a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset;
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to operate at a senior level;
• Affinity with technology and complex systems;
• Strong analytical skills and a focus on structural improvement;
• Fluent command of Dutch and English;
• Preferably: knowledge of Lean Six Sigma (Yellow/Green Belt) and/or certifications such as CIPS, APICS, or NEVI.

In this role, you report directly to the Director of Supply Chain and are part of a Supply Chain & Procurement team in transition. You will have ownership of the entire procurement domain with direct influence on the strategic direction of the function. The role is based in Hoofddorp and occasionally requires international travel for supplier visits and negotiations.
