Specialist Accounting & Finance Recruiter | Amsterdam & London

Altum Consulting is partnering with a leading global investment firm to recruit a Senior System Accountant based in Amsterdam. This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic, international finance team and take ownership of systems operations, process improvements, and automation within a sophisticated investment accounting environment.

The Senior System Accountant will focus on maintaining and enhancing the functionality, efficiency, and integrity of accounting and reporting systems. This hands‑on role combines system operations, project management, and the development of innovative, automated solutions to support the investment accounting process.

Role

System Setup & Maintenance (20%)

• Configure new investors, entities, vehicles, deals, and allocation rules.
• Maintain and improve system templates and reports.

System Usage & Optimization (20%)

• Perform system‑related tasks (e.g., scripts, SQL queries, and database updates).
• Act as a super‑user, training junior staff and ensuring best practices.
• Execute upgrades, manage data feeds, implement new tools, and maintain documentation.
• Analyse user requirements to improve information flow.
• Develop automated reports, analyses, and validation checks.
• Identify and resolve system inefficiencies through innovative solutions.

Project Management (40%)

• Plan, manage, and deliver system or accounting projects.
• Oversee resources, monitor progress, and report outcomes.

Coaching & Development (10%)

• Provide training and guidance to junior colleagues.
• Support skill development across the team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Economics, Business Administration, or Information Sciences.
• Additional training in accounting and/or systems development preferred.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in systems, accounting, or control roles.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (including VBA), SQL, and accounting systems.
• Experience with Access Databases, Crystal Reports, or similar tools is a plus.
