Job summary

Progressive in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, seeks a Senior Structural Designer to lead 3D modeling and 2D drawings for ship and offshore structures. The role features hybrid work and close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

You will own design packages, drive Cadmatic usage, and mentor junior designers while ensuring high-quality, manufacturable designs across offshore wind and maritime projects.

Qualifications

• MBO/HBO in naval architecture or mechanical engineering.
• 10+ years of experience as Structural Designer or Hull Designer.
• Experience creating structural drawings for vessels or offshore structures.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and English communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D structural construction drawings.
• Design ship and offshore structures independently.
• Translate engineering calculations into practical and manufacturable designs.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers and fellow designers.
• Support and guide junior designers.
• Review design quality and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the use and further development of Cadmatic within projects.

Senior Structural Designer

Location: Rotterdam, The Netherlands Employment: Full-time Workplace: Hybrid Nationality: EU only

About the role

Are you an experienced Structural Designer with a background in shipbuilding or offshore engineering? Do you have extensive experience creating 3D models and structural construction drawings independently? Then this opportunity could be the next step in your career.

You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for designing complex ship and offshore structures, including offshore wind installation vessels. As a Senior Structural Designer, you will take ownership of design packages and play an important role in the ongoing implementation and use of Cadmatic within the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D structural construction drawings.
• Design ship and offshore structures independently.
• Translate engineering calculations into practical and manufacturable designs.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers and fellow designers.
• Support and guide junior designers.
• Review design quality and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the use and further development of Cadmatic within projects.

Requirements

• MBO or HBO degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Structural Designer, Hull Designer or similar.
• Experience creating structural drawings for vessels or offshore structures.
• Strong experience with 3D CAD software.
• Strong communication skills and excellent command of English.
