Job summary

Axient Systems B.V. in Delft is seeking an experienced engineer to own the command and data handling architecture of a high-performance optical satellite.

You will manage the payload interface unit, data flow, and vehicle-level failure detection, isolation and recovery, working with avionics suppliers and our flight software team. You will specify data budgets, packet structures, on-board databases, and safe modes, ensuring robust, fault-tolerant operations across hardware and software

Qualifications

• Own the on-board data architecture from payload to downlink.
• Define FDIR concepts and verification strategy.
• Specify interfaces to payloads, radios and bus avionics.
• Ensure compliance with space data standards (CCSDS, PUS, CFDP).
• Communicate design decisions clearly to operators and management.

Responsibilities

• Own the command and data handling architecture of a high-performance optical satellite.
• Oversee the payload interface unit and data handling from imaging data to ground delivery.
• Define data budgets: generation, storage, throughput and latency.
• Lead vehicle-level FDIR design and safe modes.
• Provide technical oversight of payload interface unit development (hardware and software).
• Define ground segment interfaces and ensure alignment with ground software architect.
