Qualifications

• Experience as an appointed Installation Responsible Person (IV) under NEN 3140.
• Strong practical expertise in NEN-EN-IEC 60204-1.
• Native or near-native Dutch language proficiency.
• Experience working in GMP/pharmaceutical/biotech/food/medical device manufacturing.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer at Amgen in Breda to play a key role in maintaining and improving state-of-the-art labelling and packaging operations. In this role, you will serve as the electrical subject matter expert, lead electrical safety initiatives, support CAPEX projects, and drive continuous improvements across production assets.

What You'll Do

As Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for both engineering projects and electrical safety governance within your assigned production area.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy new products, equipment upgrades, and manufacturing system improvements within packaging and labelling operations.
• Support and lead projects of varying complexity while ensuring sustainable asset lifecycle management.
• Act as the electrical expert within Maintenance & Engineering and cross-functional project teams.
• Serve as the appointed Installation Responsible Person (IV) in accordance with NEN 3140 requirements.
• Ensure electrical safety compliance across production equipment, installations, maintenance activities, and modifications.
• Define, coordinate, and follow up on mandatory inspections, including:
• NEN 3140 inspections
• NEN-EN-IEC 60204-1 inspections
• Machine and equipment inspections
• Protective devices, earthing, and bonding verification
• Post-modification and repair testing
• Manage inspection findings and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Review qualifications and appointments of electrically competent personnel (ECPs).
• Assess electrical modifications and ensure compliance with GMP, QA, and electrical safety requirements.
• Provide second-line support for complex electrical troubleshooting.
• Investigate recurring equipment and process issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Independently plan and execute engineering and maintenance activities.
• Develop test protocols, perform technical evaluations, and author technical assessment reports.
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, QA, Validation, Automation, Facilities, Supply Chain, Digital, and Engineering teams, as well as external vendors.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or industrial production environments.
• In-depth knowledge of industrial electrical systems.
• Demonstrated experience as an appointed Installation Responsible Person (IV) under NEN 3140.
• Strong practical expertise in NEN-EN-IEC 60204-1.
• Solid understanding of Dutch electrical safety legislation and regulations, including:
• NEN 3140
• Experience managing engineering or CAPEX projects.
• Strong analytical troubleshooting and root-cause investigation skills.
• Experience working within regulated environments such as GMP, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, or medical device manufacturing.
• Native or near-native Dutch language proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with machine safety standards:
• ISO 13849-1
• IEC 62061
• Experience with OSHA and EPA compliance frameworks.
• Knowledge of automation and digital manufacturing environments.Ability to work occasionally outside normal office hours when business needs require.
