Selby Jennings is partnering with a leading global exchange and financial markets infrastructure provider to hire a Rust Software Engineer in Amsterdam. You will join a highly technical team building low-latency market systems and contributing to architecture decisions with ownership across the stack.

The role focuses on designing and maintaining real-time trading infrastructure, optimizing latency, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions in a hybrid Amsterdam

Qualifications

• Strong commercial software engineering experience.
• Production experience developing applications in Rust.
• Solid understanding of systems programming concepts and performance optimisation.
• Experience building distributed, concurrent, or event-driven systems.
• Strong knowledge of Linux environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals and system architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications in Rust and/or C++.
• Build resilient and scalable distributed systems supporting trading and exchange operations.
• Optimise software for latency, throughput, and reliability.
• Work closely with software engineers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
• Contribute to architecture and system design discussions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a fast-paced environment.
• Improve engineering standards, testing practices, and development tooling.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor other engineers where appropriate.
