Job summary

Selby Jennings in Amsterdam is seeking a Trading Application Support Engineer to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot critical trading apps and exchange connectivity across global venues. You will ensure reliability of production systems and collaborate with traders, engineers, and infrastructure teams.

You will develop Python automation tools, perform root cause analysis, and support deployments and releases in a fast-paced trading environment requiring attention to detail and quick responses.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Application Support, Production Support, Trading Support, or similar.
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience writing Python scripts for automation and tooling.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk, Kibana).
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Monitor production trading applications and infrastructure using dashboards, monitoring, and alerting tools.
• Act as primary contact for production incidents and application-related issues.
• Troubleshoot Linux-based trading systems, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity issues.
• Investigate exchange connectivity, market data, and order flow across venues.
• Develop Python-based automation tools to improve operational efficiency.
• Perform root cause analysis for production incidents and drive permanent resolutions.
• Collaborate with software engineers on deployments, config changes, and releases.
• Analyze logs and metrics to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Support traders in a real-time environment requiring fast response and precision.
• Contribute to monitoring, alerting, and observability improvements across stack.
