Project Developer – Utility Scale Solar & Battery Storage
An international renewable energy project developer and IPP is looking for a Project Developer to support the development of large-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects across the Netherlands.
This is an opportunity to join a growing organisation active across Europe, playing a key role in the origination, development and delivery of utility-scale renewable energy assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of large-scale ground-mounted solar PV and battery storage projects from origination through to ready-to-build stage.
- Establish and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including landowners, municipalities, local energy cooperatives, network operators, consultants and suppliers.
- Identify suitable project opportunities and assess grid connection potential and power offtake capacity.
- Coordinate planning and permitting activities with spatial planners and external advisors.
- Secure permits, planning approvals and all required authorisations for project development and future construction.
- Drive community engagement initiatives and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with technical, financial and commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and submit applications for relevant subsidies and incentive schemes.
- Support the acquisition of projects at various stages of development.
- Actively participate in industry events and maintain a strong network within the Dutch renewable energy market.
- Monitor regulatory, political and market developments impacting renewable energy projects in the Netherlands and Europe.
- Prepare development budgets, project schedules and regular progress reports for senior management.
Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Sciences, Real Estate, Planning, Economics or a related field.
- Proven experience in renewable energy project development, within utility-scale solar PV and/or battery storage.
- Good understanding of planning processes, permitting pathways and grid connection procedures.
- Commercial mindset with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work autonomously.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Entrepreneurial, proactive and solution-oriented approach.
- Familiarity with GIS tools and Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluent Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel regularly throughout the Netherlands.
