Job summary

Booking.com, based in Amsterdam, seeks an SME Lead to own end-to-end payment process design, governance, and continuous improvement. You will drive scalable, compliant operations and partner across FinTech, Product, Finance and Compliance to enable growth.

You will lead documentation, training, and UAT for new systems, while guiding teams and stakeholders to adopt best practices and optimize customer experience.

Qualifications

• 5-8 year experience in specialist area
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, or other Business-oriented field recommended
• (Master’s) degree recommended in Finance or related field
• Lean Six Sigma certification (or similar)
• Proven experience in eCommerce, process management or large multi year programs
• Experience designing processes in SAP; SAP FICA a plus
• Advanced knowledge of payment processes, the payment landscape and service providers
• Advanced understanding of cross-system financial data flows
• Ownership and drive of continuous process improvements with focus on automation and scale
• Mapping process flows and identify improvement opportunities in Payments area
• Ability to make independent decisions and set priorities
• Strong networking and influencing skills
• Organizational change management skills
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Proficient in English

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and maintain end-to-end payment processes focused on customer experience and compliance.
• Design scalable processes to support future growth.
• Identify pain points and inefficiencies using data analysis and stakeholder feedback.
• Analyze operational metrics and KPIs to identify opportunities for automation.
• Define and document clear business requirements for new processes or system enhancements.
• Collaborate with technical teams to review and validate solution designs.
• Analyze existing processes and identify gaps or inefficiencies.
• Define reporting needs for tracking process performance and compliance.
• Develop and maintain test cases for UAT and lead UAT.
• Coordinate and perform BRT to ensure deployment readiness.
• Create and maintain training documentation for internal teams.
• Provide ongoing support for go-live transitions and issue resolution.
• Serve as go-to expert on payment operations and best practices.
• Collaborate with Product, Finance, and Compliance teams.
• Partner with operational teams to understand processes and pain points.
• Communicate process changes with internal teams.
• Deliver tactical initiatives aligned with business goals.
