Job summary

VESPER is looking for a proactive Partnerships/Business Development professional to build strategic data partnerships globally from scratch. You will cold-call, attend industry events, and own negotiations from first contact to live data, creating value for partners and for VESPER.

Expect an entrepreneurial, autonomous environment with international teammates, hybrid Amsterdam office, and opportunities to shape how we grow our partner ecosystem.

  • You are not afraid of the phone.
  • You can negotiate, and not just on one variable.
  • Creative and curious; you ask the questions that uncover real needs.
  • Entrepreneurial; you come with ideas and take initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Open conversations through cold outreach, introductions, and events; secure first meetings.
  • Qualify deals quickly: data usability, rights, willingness, and value.
  • Find win-win structures that fit partner goals and Vesper capabilities.
  • Negotiate scope, term, exclusivity, usage rights and attribution; co-sign larger agreements.

Job description

Our partner network keeps growing, and the ambition is bigger than the pace we can hit today. More commodities, more regions, more depth in the markets we already cover, and a serious push in the US. Every one of those steps starts with a conversation with a company that holds market data and has never spoken to us before.

Someone has to go and start those conversations. Not wait for inbound, not run a nurture sequence and hope. Pick up the phone, walk a trade floor at an event, find the owner of a broker in Bangkok or a co-op in Idaho, and give them a reason to work with us.

That is a specific kind of person. If you need a warm pipeline handed to you, this is the wrong role. If you like starting with a market, a blank list of names, and the freedom to work out the angle yourself, keep reading.

What you'll be doing
  • Build the target list. Work out who actually holds the data in a market (exchanges, associations, processors, publishers, traders) and rank them by fit and likelihood to say yes.

  • Open the conversations. Cold outreach, introductions and events, aimed at the decision-makers closest to the physical trade. You get the first meeting yourself.

  • Qualify hard and fast. Do they have usable data, in a form we can take, with the right to share it? Are they genuinely willing? Is it worth the effort? Kill weak deals early.

  • Find the win-win. This is the heart of the job. Nobody shares their data because you asked nicely. You need to understand what each partner is trying to achieve and work out what Vesper can give back: reach in their market, insight into adjacent markets, or visibility with the buyers and sellers on our platform. If you only know one way to structure a partnership, you won't sign many.

  • Negotiate and close. Scope, term, exclusivity, redistribution and attribution rights, usage and display, mutual commitments. You co-sign larger agreements with the Head of Partnerships.

  • Get from signature to live data. A signed contract is the midpoint. You stay on it through onboarding and validation with Data Research and Product until the data is live and the partner is happy. Then our Partner Success Manager takes over, freeing you for the next one.

  • Represent us at events. Several global trade shows a year. You go with a target list and come back with meetings and signed NDAs, not a badge collection.

What you'll bring
  • 3 to 5 years in new business: partnerships, business development, sales, licensing or trading, where building the pipeline was your job. Tell us about a deal you started from a cold list and closed, and what you traded to get it.

  • You are not afraid of the phone. You will call people who have never heard of Vesper

  • You can negotiate, and not just on one variable. You understand how the other side makes money, you build something that works for both, and then you close it.

  • Creative and curious. You ask the questions that get you to what someone really wants, and you can invent a deal shape that fits it.

  • Entrepreneurial. You come with your own ideas, you act on them, and you would rather ask for forgiveness than for a process.

  • Strong communicator in English, in writing and on a call. You can hold your own with a broker who has traded for thirty years.

  • You finish things. Deals do not stall in your pipeline because a follow-up did not happen.

What you get
  • International team of 80+ people from all over the world and an inclusive culture

  • A flat company structure with an entrepreneurial environment with lots of autonomy and trust

  • Real ownership of a part of the business that is growing, with room to shape how it runs

  • Direct access to commercial leadership. Small team, short lines, quick decisions

  • Professional development opportunities that will help you and Vesper grow

  • Travel to industry events across our partner markets

  • A chance to see your work make a real difference and help transform a traditional industry

  • A beautiful canal-view office in the heart of Amsterdam, with hybrid working

  • Some additional cool perks: MacBook, fun monthly team activities, Friday drinks, company sport tournaments, and more!
