Job summary

Vesper is seeking a Fruits Market Insights Analyst to turn data on fresh and processed fruit into actionable market insights for procurement and pricing.

Based in Amsterdam, you will build data-driven reports, expand fruit coverage, and collaborate with product and client teams. Strong communication in English required, and a network of market participants is valued.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of experience in fruit markets.

What we expect from this role

As our Fruits Market Insights Analyst, your job is to make sense of what’s happening in fruit markets, both fresh fruit and processed fruit products, and turn it into insights our customers can actually use. Prices, harvests, and trade flows are the backbone of the job, but the mood of the market matters just as much. You’ll help procurement teams answer the questions that keep them up at night, like "why is banana supply getting tight?" or "what’s pushing citrus prices around this quarter?".

You’ll work closely with the Product team and other market analysts, tracking down data we don’t have yet, growing our coverage of fruit markets, and making sure our reports and tools give people what they need to make good sourcing and pricing calls.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely likes getting into the data, is curious about how fruit markets actually work, can turn what they find into insights that are easy to act on, and works well with people across the business.

What you will be doing

• Analyse global and regional production, trade flows, and consumption trends for fresh fruit (e.g., bananas, avocados, citrus, grapes) and processed fruit products (e.g., juice concentrate, purée, dried and frozen fruit).

• Deliver weekly market updates and ad hoc reports that combine fundamental analysis, market sentiment, and relevant futures or derivatives developments where applicable.

• Identify, source, and validate new data to increase Vesper’s fruit market coverage.

• Build and maintain a network of growers, exporters, importers, and traders to validate trends and get insight straight from the ground.

• Lead research initiatives independently, and act as the go-to person for fruit markets within Vesper, supporting colleagues and cross-functional teams with market expertise.

• Build and maintain supply-demand balance sheets and price views for key fruit categories, tracking drivers such as weather, harvest conditions, production costs, and freight or logistics disruptions.

• Translate market needs and user feedback into concrete product improvements, working closely with the Product team.

• Join client calls, webinars, and industry events to share your expertise and grow Vesper’s presence in the fruits space.

What you will bring

• 3-4 years of experience in fruit markets, covering fresh fruit (e.g., bananas, avocados, citrus, grapes) and processed fruit products (e.g., juice concentrate, purée, dried and frozen fruit).

• Good understanding of supply chains, pricing mechanisms, and key market drivers within global fruit markets.

• An existing network of relevant market participants, with the willingness and curiosity to expand it further.

• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to navigate large, complex datasets and extract actionable insights.

• Experience producing market analyses and reports with a forward-looking perspective.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Self-motivated and able to manage your own projects, while knowing when to collaborate or ask for input.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and manage multiple priorities.

• Knowledge of analytical tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R).
