Job summary

Newmark Hotels & Reserves is seeking a Maintenance Manager to ensure all lodge buildings, guest areas and facilities are safe, functional and maintained to a high standard. You will oversee electrical, plumbing, HVAC, water systems, generators and other plant, coordinating with departments to deliver a seamless guest experience.

The role requires a trade qualification, 3–5 years in hospitality maintenance, supervisory experience, strong planning and budget skills, and a hands-on leadership

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in electrical, plumbing, mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 3–5 years’ maintenance experience in hospitality or remote property environments.
  • Supervisory or management experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, generators, pumps and water systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Computer literacy (email & spreadsheets).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans for lodge buildings, rooms, public areas, staff accommodation, plant, equipment and grounds.
  • Manage all day-to-day maintenance activities across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, air-conditioning, refrigeration, pools, water systems and general repairs.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas and staff facilities to identify maintenance requirements.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, minimising disruption to guests and lodge operations.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with lodge standards, health and safety requirements and applicable legislation.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, asset registers, service records and repair histories.
  • Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, monitor costs, obtain quotations and control expenditure.
  • Source, manage and supervise external contractors, ensuring quality work and value for money.
  • Manage stock, tools, spare parts and maintenance supplies; ensure secure storage and stock control.
  • Lead, train and supervise the maintenance team, including task allocation and development.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety, fire safety procedures and environmental standards.
  • Monitor lodge infrastructure, including generators, water supply, pumps, solar, electrical systems and security equipment.
  • Collaborate with Housekeeping, Front Office, F&B and Operations to anticipate maintenance needs.
  • Support sustainability initiatives like water conservation and energy efficiency.
  • Be available to assist with after-hours emergencies when required.

Job description

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring that all lodge buildings, guest areas, staff facilities, equipment, vehicles and infrastructure are maintained to a safe, functional and high standard. The role supports an exceptional guest experience by ensuring that maintenance issues are prevented, promptly resolved and managed within budget.

  • Trade qualification in electrical, plumbing, mechanical engineering or a related field will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ maintenance experience, preferably within a lodge, hotel, hospitality or remote property environment.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong practical knowledge of general building maintenance, electrical systems, plumbing, generators, pumps and water systems.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Computer literacy, including basic reporting, email and spreadsheet use.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all day‑to‑day maintenance activities, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, air‑conditioning, refrigeration, pools, water systems and general repairs.

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns, minimising disruption to guests and lodge operations.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed in line with lodge standards, health and safety requirements and applicable legislation.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, asset registers, service records, inspection reports and repair histories.
  • Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, monitor costs, obtain quotations and control maintenance‑related expenditure.
  • Source, manage and supervise external contractors, ensuring quality work, compliance and value for money.
  • Manage stock, tools, spare parts and maintenance supplies; ensure secure storage and appropriate stock control.
  • Lead, train and supervise the maintenance team, including task allocation, performance management, scheduling and development.

  • Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food and Beverage and Operations to ensure maintenance needs are identified and addressed proactively.
  • Support sustainability initiatives, including water conservation, energy efficiency, waste management and environmentally responsible maintenance practices.
  • Be available to assist with after‑hours emergencies when required
