Job summary

MIMETAS is seeking a Junior Scientist to join our Model Development team in Leiden, the Netherlands. You will develop and validate organ-on-a-chip tissue and disease models, working in multidisciplinary teams and reporting to internal stakeholders.

You will plan and execute experiments, write SOPs, and contribute to lab duties, with English as the primary communication language in a fast-growing biotech environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with max 2 years of work experience, or Bachelor’s with relevant work experience, in biology, pharmaceutical sciences, life science technology, or related field.
• Experienced in tissue culture, (confocal) microscopy and image analysis software.
• Experience with (live) cell-based assays and molecular analysis techniques.
• Work is of high quality, you work accurately and safely.
• You are a motivated, flexible, and positive team player.
• Excellent communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement novel organ- and disease-models (e.g., liver, CNS, tumors).
• Model validation by compound challenges, immunoassays, using state-of-the-art cell-based and molecular assays.
• Plan and execute experiments independently.
• Report to internal stakeholders on a regular basis.
• Write standard operating procedures.
• Contribute to general lab duties.
