Job summary

Giesecke+Devrient is seeking an IT Architect (m/f/d) to lead the integration of IT/OT components across international projects in our currency technology domain. You will ensure sizing and secure base infrastructure for our software landscape with a focus on high availability and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities include designing IT/OT architectures, translating customer requirements into technical solutions, coordinating stakeholders, and delivering structured progress reports.

Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science, IT or related ICT training.
• Proven experience in engineering large IT/OT integration projects for plant engineering.
• Strong negotiation skills to align customers and suppliers.
• Ability to assess IT architecture options and select robust solutions.
• Experience with secure network design and private cloud/datacenter concepts.
• Knowledge of IEC 62443 and ISO 27001, with relevant certifications preferred.
• Multiple years of requirements analysis for IT/OT systems in automation environments.
• Proficient in defining high-availability IT environments (ITIL v4).
• Fluency in English; additional languages a plus; willingness to travel worldwide.

Work with us and support us as an IT architect (m/f/d) in providing a smoothly functioning integration of all IT/OT components that are necessary to drive our business processes. You will be responsible in providing a solid sizing and secure base infrastructure for our software landscape to be hosted on, especially with focus on high availability, disaster recovery, complemented by secure information, communication and remote access design. Your responsibilities:

• You are responsible for the technical management of IT/OT aspects for integration solutions in international projects
• You accompany projects remotely and on-site throughout all project life cycle phases, starting from the sales through implementation and handover to the customer and the subsequent hypercare / support phase
• You develop and design IT/OT architectures taking into account common high availability, redundancy and security standards
• You adapt concepts to customer requirements and find pragmatic, optimal solutions for the integration of the components involved
• You will play a key role in translating customer requirements into technical implementations
• You coordinate internal and external stakeholders involved in the project, acting as the primary technical point of contact to manage expectations and resolve conflicts.
• You are steering and supervising our related suppliers, ensuring their deliverables meet quality, schedule, and cost agreements.
• You present, argue and adapt solution proposals in collaboration with IT departments of our international customers
• You regularly monitor and report the level of progress to management in a structured manner
• You create technical documentation for project management, customers, suppliers and create work instructions for our resident IT/OT engineers

Your profile:

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related trainings / certifications (ICT area)
• Proven expertise in engineering medium to large scale IT/OT integration projects in plant engineering (automated intralogistics and/or production systems)
• Strong negotiation skills to develop joint solutions with customers and suppliers
• Ability to assess the advantages and disadvantages of different IT architecture options
• Experience with physical and virtual server setups, network and security infrastructure design
• Strong knowledge on classic and hyperconverged datacenter design principles ideally complemented with knowledge about private cloud datacenter designs
• Experience with secure network design principles
• Strong on-premises expertise ideally complemented by Cloud expertise
• Knowledge of IEC 62443 and ISO 27001 rounds off your profile, ideally backed by a corresponding certification
• Several years of experience in requirements analysis for IT/OT systems in the field of automation and/or production environments
• Proven expertise with SLAs and the associated design of highly available IT environments (ITIL v4)
• You speak English fluently both spoken and written, any additional language skills are a plus
• You are willing to travel worldwide in connection with project assignments
• Excellent analytical skills, a strong customer focus, stress resilience and intercultural competence complement your profile as a team player
