Job summary

Impactsearch - Finance Recruitment's client, a Nasdaq-listed late-stage biotech, seeks an Inventory Accountant to join the Finance team in Leiden. You will report to the Accounting Operations Lead and collaborate with the US team, with a hybrid model requiring a presence in Leiden at least one day per week.

Responsibilities include validating production orders, maintaining standard costs, developing inventory reports, reconciling inventory with ERP, and supporting month-end closings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• 3–5 years of financial accounting experience with international companies.
• Experience in inventory control and standard costing with variance analysis.
• Proficient in IFRS, Dutch and US GAAP concepts.

Responsibilities

• Validate production orders with the supply chain team.
• Maintain and update the standard costing system.
• Develop standard costs for the upcoming year.
• Develop inventory analysis reports and variance analyses.
• Reconcile inventory quantity with warehouse reports.
• Maintain ERP data accuracy and address ERP issues.
• Propose journal entries for period close to reconcile inventory and COGS.
• Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations.
• Document business processes and internal controls.

Job description

Our client is a Nasdaq listed, late stage Biotech company. They have offices in Leiden and the US and they are on the verge of a number of exciting developments. To further support these developments the company is seeking to recruit an Inventory Accountant. This is a new role in which you will report to the Accounting Operations Lead and be part of a broader Finance team (based both in the Netherlands and the US). The company offers a hybrid work environment, but you must live in the Netherlands and be able to be at the office in Leiden at least one day a week.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Validate production orders through review with supply chain team
• Maintain and update the cost accounting system, working closely with the product development team
• Assist in the development of standard costs for upcoming year
• Develop inventory analysis reports and analyse variances from standards
• Perform steps to reconcile inventory quantity to warehouse reports
• Ensure elements of the supply chain and accounting functions are properly maintained within the ERP. Register and address issues within the ERP
• Propose entries during the periodic close to reconcile inventory and validate COGS
• Prepare of month-end balance sheet reconciliations
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Profile

• Educated to bachelor’s degree in accounting or business related major.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting. Mix of public accounting and private company experience working with international companies is key
• Experience in inventory control and standard costing, including variance analysis
• Proficient in first-in, first-out inventory accounting, including capitalization and expensing of cost variances such as purchase price, freight, and duty.
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to adhere to month-end close timelines.
• High proficiency in English, written and spoken.
• Working knowledge of accounting, preferably including IFRS, Dutch, and US GAAP.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365
