Job summary

Nexus Search is assisting a leading food manufacturing organisation by sourcing an Interim Construction Manager for a major site expansion in the North of the Netherlands. You will coordinate and execute construction activities within a live manufacturing environment, spanning process equipment, utilities, civil works, mechanical installation, electrical infrastructure and automation.

The role requires leading day-to-day activities, managing multiple contractors, and enforcing site safety

Job description

Contract: Interim / Contract – 9–12 months

The Opportunity

We are supporting a leading food manufacturing organisation with the appointment of an experienced Interim Construction Manager for a major site expansion in the North of the Netherlands.

Working as part of the site project team, you will take responsibility for the coordination and execution of construction activities across a complex, live manufacturing environment.

The project incorporates both brownfield and greenfield construction, with activity spanning process equipment, utilities, civil works, mechanical installation, electrical infrastructure and automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day construction activities across the site


• Manage multiple contractors across mechanical, civil and electrical workstreams


• Maintain oversight of several construction activities running simultaneously

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an established Construction Manager with approximately 8+ years of industrial construction experience.

You should have:

• Significant construction management experience within process-driven industrial environments


• Experience within food, ingredients, chemical, pharmaceutical, or similar process driven manufacturing sectors


• Strong knowledge of mechanical, civil and electrical construction activities


• Experience managing multiple contractors and concurrent workstreams


• A strong, proactive approach to construction safety


• Experience working on complex brownfield and/or greenfield projects


• Strong coordination and stakeholder-management skills


• The ability to operate as a functional leader without direct line-management responsibility

An engineering background is not essential. This position is focused specifically on construction management, contractor coordination and site execution, rather than engineering design.

This is an interim assignment expected to run for 9–12 months.

The position will require an essentially full-time presence on site in the North of the Netherlands, typically five days per week. Due to the nature of the project, occasional weekend working may also be required.

The requirement is urgent, with interviews taking place immediately.
