Job summary

HR ProjectPartners BV seeks an experienced Contracts Manager/Engineer to support construction execution on a major industrial project in Rotterdam. This is a site-based, hands-on role with responsibility for the full lifecycle of construction and site services contracts, with a strong focus on post-award contract administration, change management and claims.

The role covers major construction disciplines including civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and scaffolding.

Qualifications

• 15+ years' contracts experience within industrial, engineering or complex construction projects.
• Experience managing construction contracts and purchase orders.
• Strong understanding and experience drafting and interpreting contractual language.
• MRICS and/or CIPS desirable.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop contract strategies, contracting plans and procurement packages for project execution.
• Prepare and manage tender packages, including commercial terms, BOQs, technical requirements and evaluation criteria.
• Manage contract and PO models including lump sum, remeasurement, unit rate and reimbursable arrangements.
• Lead commercial negotiations, contract awards and resolution of technical and commercial clarifications.
• Administer contracts throughout execution, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, cost and schedule objectives.
• Manage variations, change orders, site instructions and engineering changes, assessing cost and schedule impacts.
• Lead proactive claims and counterclaims, including notices, correspondence, delay analysis, mitigation and supporting documentation.
• Monitor contractor performance and support effective resolution of commercial and contractual issues.
• Manage purchase orders, invoices, payments and commercial forecasting, including use of SAP and relevant procurement systems.
• Support contractor/supplier prequalification, tendering, evaluation and award processes.
• Maintain accurate reporting, cost forecasts and contract documentation through to project close-out.
• Strong contract management and administration experience across the full contract lifecycle.
• Proven experience with construction contracts, including lump sum and remeasurement arrangements.
• Strong understanding of contractual terms, commercial risk and construction contract law.
• Excellent negotiation, claims and dispute-resolution skills.
• Strong commercial, financial and cost-control understanding.
• Experience managing contractors on active construction sites.
• Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills across different functions and cultures.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, organisational and time-management skills.
• Experience with SAP and procure-to-pay processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced project environment.
