Job summary

The Hoxton in Amsterdam seeks a Head Housekeeper to lead the housekeeping team and manage all housekeeping staff. Reporting to the General Manager, you will uphold The Hoxton’s high standards of cleanliness and presentation across all spaces, including rooms and public areas.

You will train, coach and develop your team, manage budgets and labour costs, and collaborate with Front Office and Maintenance to ensure guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.
• Experience of Micros Fidelio Opera or a similar front desk operating system.
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• An eagle-eye for detail and high standards of service.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Housekeeping team to ensure guest rooms and public areas are spotless.
• Train the team on house keeping SOPs and ensure consistent application.
• Coach and develop staff, fostering pride and growth.
• Set objectives to ensure efficient, high-quality cleaning across all hotel spaces.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

• Lead the Housekeeping team to ensure every guest enjoys a spotless stay; from perfectly made rooms to pristine public and back-of-house areas.
• Keep standards sky-high by training the team on all Housekeeping SOPs, making sure they’re followed consistently.
• Coach, motivate, and develop your team, creating an environment where they feel proud of their work and supported in their growth.
• Set clear objectives for the team to ensure the smooth, efficient, and high-quality cleaning of all hotel spaces.
• Carry out regular inspections and spot-checks of guest rooms and public areas to maintain The Hoxton’s standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• Build strong relationships with Front Office and Maintenance to ensure seamless communication and guest satisfaction.
• Take a proactive approach to improving systems, processes, and efficiencies in the department.
• Take ownership of health and safety procedures, ensuring all Housekeeping team members are fully trained and compliant.
• Participate in crisis and fire team responsibilities, understanding all emergency protocols.
• Keep a close eye on budgets, expenses, and labour costs; finding smart ways to stay within targets without compromising on quality.
• Oversee Housekeeping stock levels and ordering, ensuring supplies are well managed and waste is minimized.
• Collaborate on department projects and contribute ideas that evolve the Housekeeping team and enhance overall operations.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and contractors, ensuring service quality and reliability.
