Job summary

The Hoxton, Amsterdam is looking for a Head Housekeeper to oversee the housekeeping department across 111 rooms and public spaces. Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the team, ensure spotless rooms, and uphold The Hoxton standards of service and presentation.

You will train staff, drive continuous improvement, and manage safety, scheduling, and inventory. The role requires hands-on leadership and a passion for hospitality in a dynamic, guest‑centric environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.
• Strong eye for detail and guests’ expectations.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Proactive in coaching and developing a housekeeping team.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Head Housekeeper, to join our team. Reporting to our General Manager you will be responsible for the overall management of the housekeeping department, and all housekeeping employees.

Once the Mayor’s home, now our home, on Amsterdam’s Herengracht canal. The Hoxton, Amsterdam houses 111 rooms, The Apartment, our meetings & events concept, and our all-day restaurant & bar, Lotti’s.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

• Lead the Housekeeping team to ensure every guest enjoys a spotless stay;from perfectly made rooms to pristine public and back-of-house areas.
• Keep standards sky-high by training the team on all Housekeeping SOPs, making sure they’re followed consistently.
• Coach, motivate, and develop your team, creating an environment where they feel proud of their work and supported in their growth.
• Set clear objectives for the team to ensure the smooth, efficient, and high-quality cleaning of all hotel spaces.
• Carry out regular inspections and spot-checks of guest rooms and public areas to maintain The Hoxton’s standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• Build strong relationships with Front Office and Maintenance to ensure seamless communication and guest satisfaction.
• Take a proactive approach to improving systems, processes, and efficiencies in the department.
• Take ownership of health and safety procedures, ensuring all Housekeeping team members are fully trained and compliant.
• Participate in crisis and fire team responsibilities, understanding all emergency protocols.
• Keep a close eye on budgets, expenses, and labour costs;finding smart ways to stay within targets without compromising on quality.
• Oversee Housekeeping stock levels and ordering, ensuring supplies are well managed and waste is minimized.
• Collaborate on department projects and contribute ideas that evolve the Housekeeping team and enhance overall operations.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and contractors, ensuring service quality and reliability.
