Job summary

Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam is seeking a Shift Leader who guides daily service operations and upholds grooming, HACCP, and uniform standards. You will supervise and motivate the team across F&B outlets, manage cash with Micros, and oversee Formitable reservations to ensure a seamless guest experience.

You will lead daily briefings, collaborate with all outlets, and ensure smooth shift handovers while maintaining high service quality.

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in hospitality, food & beverage, or hotel operations.
  • Passionate about delivering outstanding guest experiences and leading teams to success.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with colleagues and guests.
  • Organized, proactive, and able to maintain overview in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident in making decisions and taking responsibility during shifts.
  • Hands-on mentality and leading by example on the operational floor.
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
  • Knowledge of Micros, Formitable, and HACCP regulations is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily service operations including events, reservations, and business levels.
  • Monitor sick leave procedures to ensure adequate staffing and continuity.
  • Maintain high cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety per HACCP regulations.
  • Supervise, support, and motivate the team to complete daily tasks.
  • Manage cash handling and end-of-day financial processes using Micros.
  • Oversee Formitable reservations to ensure accurate guest management.
  • Conduct daily team briefings to communicate updates, goals, and priorities.
  • Ensure smooth shift handovers with LE/Managers for seamless operations.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and share ideas.
  • Coach and develop team members to grow within the business.
  • Collaborate with all F&B outlets to deliver a consistent guest experience.

Job description

As a Shift Leader, you are a role model for the team and play a key role in delivering an exceptional guest experience. You lead by example, maintain the highest grooming and uniform standards, and ensure compliance with company policies. With your strong communication and leadership skills, you create a positive and motivating work environment while ensuring smooth daily operations. You are proactive, guest-focused, and committed to maintaining high service, quality, and operational standards across the department.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Plan and coordinate the daily service operation, including upcoming events, site inspections, reservations, and business levels.
  • Monitor and follow up on sick leave procedures to ensure adequate staffing and operational continuity.
  • Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety throughout the department in line with HACCP regulations.
  • Supervise, support, and motivate the team while ensuring daily checklists and operational tasks are completed effectively.
  • Manage cash handling procedures and perform end-of-day financial processes using Micros.
  • Utilize and oversee the reservation system (Formitable) to ensure accurate guest management.
  • Conduct daily team briefings to communicate important operational updates, goals, and priorities.
  • Maintain effective shift handovers with fellow Shift Leaders, Supervisors, and Managers to ensure seamless operations.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and contribute ideas, processes, and best practices.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members, helping them build their skills and grow within the business.
  • Work closely with all F&B outlets, including Banqueting, Bar, Restaurant, Breakfast, and Kitchen teams, to deliver a consistent guest experience.
