Job summary

Trinamics is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead 1D engine simulations and model development using GT-Suite. You will calibrate DI-pulse combustion and emissions, and develop ML models for emissions, engine performance, and EAS systems.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in internal combustion engines.
• Proven experience with MATLAB for data analysis, model development, and simulation automation.
• Experience with EAS development is a plus.
• Experience in engine simulations and model development.

Responsibilities

• Perform 1D engine simulations, optimizations, and model development in GT-Suite.
• DI-pulse combustion calibration and emission calibration.
• Develop machine learning models for emissions, engine performance, and EAS.
• Validate and calibrate simulation models using measurement data.
• Analyze simulation results, translate findings into clear recommendations, and present conclusions to stakeholders.
• Continuously improve model accuracy, computational efficiency, robustness, and usability.
• Initiate model development for new systems, technologies, and control concepts.
• Take ownership of assigned engine models and functions.
• Develop and execute integrated engine and EAS simulations (tailpipe emissions).

Job description

• Validate and calibrate simulation models using measurement data
• Analyze simulation results, translate findings into clear recommendations, and present conclusions to relevant stakeholders
• Continuously improve model accuracy, computational efficiency, robustness, and usability
• Initiate model development for new systems, technologies, and control concepts
• Take ownership of assigned engine models and functions
• Develop and execute integrated engine and EAS simulations (tailpipe emissions)
• Potentially work with GT-Suite xChem for EAS development (chemical kinetics and gaseous reactions)

Job profile

• MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in internal combustion engines
• At least 5 years of experience in simulation activities within the automotive engine industry (diesel engine experience preferred)
• Experience in heavy-duty powertrain development, with strong knowledge of thermodynamics, engine performance, combustion, and controls
• Proven experience with MATLAB for data analysis, model development, and simulation automation
• Experience with EAS development is a plus
