Job summary

GIGA Storage is seeking an Energy Project Manager to lead day-to-day implementation, moving battery assets from contract to revenue-ready status. You will coordinate with the Energy Desk, Portfolio, IT, and external partners to keep onboarding on track and apply clear ownership through RACI models.

You will manage connectivity, security-aligned solutions, and market preparations for balancing markets, while breaking down complex challenges into actionable steps with multi-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of relevant energy sector experience (utility, trader, aggregator, or similar).
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Energy, Business, Economics, Technology or related field.

The energy transition is changing the electricity system at unprecedented speed. As more wind and solar enter the system, large-scale battery storage becomes essential to keeping electricity available when it is needed and the grid in balance.

At GIGA Storage, we develop, invest in and operate large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Our batteries store electricity when there is plenty available and make it available again when the system needs it. By 2030, we aim to manage 1.5 to 2 GW of operational BESS assets, enough power capacity to serve millions of households at a given moment.

As our portfolio grows, getting each battery connected to the right markets and commercially operational becomes increasingly important. That is where you come in.

What will you do?

Once a commercial contract with a Route-to-Market partner is signed, your work starts. As Energy Project Manager, you take ownership of the day-to-day implementation and make sure a battery asset moves from signed contract to fully operational and revenue ready.

At the heart of the role is keeping the entire onboarding process moving. You bring together our Energy Desk, Portfolio management and other internal stakeholders, including Asset Management, IT, Finance and Legal teams, as well as our external counterparties. You translate the implementation plan into clear actions, establish responsibilities through RACI models, maintain project schedules and risk registers, and make sure actions are actually completed.

In practice, that could mean coordinating the connectivity required for a partner to control and optimise a battery. If the proposed technical solution does not meet our security requirements, your role is to bring IT, Operations, Security and the partner together and drive an alternative solution. Another project might involve preparing a new battery for participation in balancing markets, making sure market qualifications, connectivity and operational processes are ready before go-live.

The challenges are not always technical. One partner may invoice on a different schedule from another, for example. Who validates the data? Who approves the invoice? How does settlement work? You identify what needs to be arranged, assign ownership and turn the outcome into a clear and repeatable process.

This does not mean solving every problem yourself. The key is understanding what needs to happen, breaking complex challenges into manageable pieces, involving the right people and keeping momentum until the asset is ready to enter the market.

What do you bring?

We are looking for someone who already understands the energy sector and is ready to take more ownership of complex implementation projects.

• 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in the energy sector, for example at a utility, energy trader, aggregator, renewable energy developer or another company active in electricity markets.
• A completed Bachelor's or Master's degree, for example in Engineering, Energy, Business, Economics, Technology, Project Management or a related field.
• A good understanding of the fundamentals of electricity and energy markets, including concepts such as balancing markets. Experience with BESS is a plus, but not required.
• Experience coordinating projects or implementations involving multiple internal and external stakeholders, including structuring schedules, responsibilities, risks and actions.
• An analytical and hands-on approach. You can break complex problems into smaller steps, keep track of multiple workstreams and follow through until things are actually finished.
• Enough technical affinity to understand conversations about systems, data and connectivity. You do not need to be an IT specialist, but you are comfortable working closely with technical teams.

• Build processes that scale with GIGA Storage. What works for a handful of assets today needs to work for a much larger portfolio tomorrow. The onboarding processes and standards created today can become the blueprint for future projects.
• Bring our experience into new energy markets. As GIGA Storage grows across the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, you help translate lessons learned into implementations that work across different markets, partners and requirements.
• Work where BESS technology meets the electricity market. Market qualifications, asset connectivity, new flexibility products and settlement processes all come together in this role, right where large-scale battery storage becomes an active part of the electricity system.

You work closely with an experienced Program Lead, combining your own responsibility with the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of BESS and energy markets and grow towards broader project management responsibility.
