Job summary

X4 Life Sciences in the Netherlands seeks an experienced Design Lead with a strong structural engineering background to drive design excellence across large-scale industrial, commercial and complex building projects.

You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage BIM models, and ensure high technical quality while guiding digital engineering adoption and best practices. Hybrid working options available.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Construction Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• Experience with multiple structural materials (concrete, steel).
• ≥5 years leading design processes on large-scale construction/industrial projects.
• Experience with design management and multidisciplinary project coordination.
• Strong understanding of BIM and digital engineering processes.
• Experience in complex industrial, commercial, or large-scale building environments.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Fluent in Dutch and good English.
• Collaborative mindset for cross-discipline work.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering processes from project initiation through to delivery.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across structural, civil and architectural disciplines.
• Manage BIM models, information exchange and digital collaboration.
• Act as technical point of contact for clients, project teams and stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain design standards and ensure technical quality.
• Coordinate design activities across disciplines and stakeholders.
• Monitor information flows, data quality and compliance with project requirements.
• Support implementation of digital engineering tools and new ways of working.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to team members.
• Contribute to innovative and sustainable design solutions.
