Job summary

g2 Recruitment supports a well-established engineering consultancy in the Netherlands with the appointment of an experienced Chief Structural Engineer for a 12-month contract position based in Zoetermeer.

You will own projects from initial assessment to delivery, act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, and develop and review structural solutions across concrete, steel, and timber while ensuring compliance with standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related construction discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Structural Engineer or Chief Structural Engineer.
• Strong experience carrying out structural calculations independently.
• Proficient in structural analysis software such as Technosoft or SCIA Engineer.
• Fluent Dutch language skills (spoken and written) are essential.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage and deliver structural engineering projects from concept through to completion.
• Develop structural designs and perform detailed calculations for steel, concrete, timber, and mixed-material structures.
• Prepare and review primary structural calculations and technical reports.
• Coordinate the production of structural drawings and construction documentation.
• Monitor project schedules, estimate engineering hours, and contribute to project quotations.
• Review and provide technical guidance on the work of fellow structural engineers.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.

We are currently supporting a well-established engineering consultancy in the Netherlands with the appointment of an experienced Chief Structural Engineer for a 12-month contract position based in Zoetermeer. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of building and structural engineering projects, ranging from new-build developments to complex refurbishment and extension schemes.

As a Chief Structural Engineer, you will take ownership of projects from initial assessment through to successful delivery. Acting as a trusted technical advisor to clients, you will be responsible for developing and reviewing structural solutions across concrete, steel, and timber structures while ensuring compliance with relevant standards and safety requirements.

The position offers a high degree of autonomy, allowing you to independently manage your workload, technical decisions, and project responsibilities.

• Fluent Dutch language skills (spoken and written) are essential.
