Job summary

The International School of The Hague seeks a Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated team. You will step into the secondary classroom during teacher absences, ensuring learning continues smoothly, safely, and with purpose. No subject specialization required, just strong classroom management and genuine care for student success.

Role is 40 hours/week, 08:15–16:45, with two contract options (temporary and longer-term). Benefits include CAO VO Scale 6 pay, holidays and pension support.

• Work pattern: This full-time position is based on 40 hours per week i.e. 1.0 FTE.
• Working hours: 08:15 - 16:45 Monday to Friday
• Contract: We currently have two positions available: one temporary cover role for a colleague, and one longer-term contract.
• Salary: In accordance with the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Secondary Education (CAO VO) Scale 6: between € 2.672,- en € 3.610,- gross per month based on a full-time contract (depending on your experience)
• Location: The International School of The Hague, Wijndaelerweg 11, Kijkduin

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will step into the secondary classroom during regular teacher absences to ensure our students' learning journey continues smoothly, safely, and purposefully. You do not need to be a subject specialist to excel here. Instead, you will bring high professional standards, fantastic classroom management, and a genuine care for student success that allows our international community to flourish.

As part of your daily role, you will:

• Supervise secondary classes using plans and resources provided by regular teachers.
• Set clear expectations, keep students focused, and monitor their progress during tasks.
• Create a calm, respectful learning environment where every student feels supported.
• Assist students with additional needs, including SEND and EAL learners.
• Apply school behaviour policies effectively and uphold all safeguarding guidelines.
• Register attendance accurately using iSAMS and leave helpful feedback for class teachers.

Who are we looking for?

You will be a great fit for our team if you have:

• Excellent interpersonal and classroom management skills.
• Confidence working with students aged 11-18 in an international school setting.
• High resilience, flexibility, and strong communication skills.
• Good ICT skills and confidence using digital learning tools.
• A genuine commitment to student wellbeing, safeguarding, inclusion, and equity.
• Prior experience in secondary schools or knowledge of IB MYP/DP frameworks (desirable).
• The existing legal right to work in the Netherlands, independent of employment status.
