Job summary

Elkem ASA, through its Maritime Center (EMC) in Rotterdam, seeks a Container Logistics Specialist to join a tight-knit team. You will handle operational and commercial tasks, supporting tenders, negotiating with carriers and maintaining rate data across systems.

The role requires a mix of analytics, logistics know-how and strong communication, with travel as needed and a drive for continuous improvement within a global industrial context.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and Dutch, both spoken and written.
• Strong digital skills and affinity with data-driven working.
• Advanced user of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI and analytical/tendering tools.
• Experience within the global and regional container shipping market.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Support global tenders and spot rate requests.
• Negotiate freight contracts with carriers and logistics partners.
• Maintain and update freight rates in ERP and other systems.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, quality requirements and cost objectives.
• Support Elkem's quality system, procedures and KPIs.
• Register and follow up supplier feedback and transport-related non-conformances.
• Manage supplier rate databases and master data in ERP.
• Assist internal stakeholders with container logistics questions and challenges.
• Advise on logistics solutions, sailing schedules and equipment availability.
• Maintain relationships with shipping companies and internal customers at Elkem plants.
• Identify and develop new supplier and partner opportunities.

About Elkem Maritime Center (EMC)

EMC is responsible for global maritime logistics activities, including:

Contracting container freight for outbound shipments from plants and warehouses to customers worldwide

Contracting inbound freight for bulk vessels and containerized cargo to plants and end users

You will join a close-knit team of five professionals and report directly to the Managing Director of EMC.

What will you do?

As part of our container logistics team, you will be involved in both operational and commercial activities, including:

• Supporting global tenders and spot rate requests
• Negotiating freight contracts with carriers and logistics partners
• Maintaining and updating freight rates in relevant systems
• Ensuring compliance with company standards, quality requirements and cost objectives
• Supporting and maintaining Elkem's quality system, procedures and KPIs
• Registering and following up supplier feedback and transport-related non-conformances
• Managing supplier rate databases and master data in the ERP system
• Assisting internal stakeholders with container logistics questions and challenges
• Advising on the best logistics solutions, sailing schedules and equipment availability
