Job summary

Albert Heijn is seeking an Engineering Manager for our Data Management domain to lead two DevSecOps teams that operate our database platform across Albert Heijn, Etos, and Gall & Gall.

You will guide two engineering teams (around 30 engineers) with a focus on secure, scalable database and scheduling services built on Azure and OCI, while fostering FinOps practices for cost efficiency and reliability.

• Strong understanding of database technologies and scheduling platforms.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Deep knowledge of reliability, operational excellence, automation, and service continuity.
• Practical experience with secure operations and data protection practices.
• Strong organizational and delivery management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop the Central Database and Scheduling team with ownership and accountability.
• Build empowered, autonomous, T-shaped teams and remove non-technical overhead.
• Ensure high-quality delivery of database and scheduling services with resilience and operational excellence.
• Embed security by design across engineering practices and ensure compliance with security standards.
• Drive automation, monitoring, scheduling reliability, and operational support.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into delivery plans.
• Align technical decisions with architectural and security guidelines.
• Monitor platform performance, incident trends, and delivery metrics to improve efficiency.
• Manage capacity, hiring, and skill development for long-term delivery strength.
• Work with architecture, product, and security leaders to evolve the data management landscape.
