Job summary

CGI Nederland is seeking a senior Azure Data Engineer to design, build and evolve scalable data platforms for enterprise environments in the Netherlands. This hands-on role combines deep Azure data stack knowledge with practical DevOps practices and strong collaboration with technical and business teams.

You will work on projects for financial services clients, using Azure Databricks, Synapse, Data Factory, Data Lake Gen2, and IaC tooling.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in data engineering.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of the Azure data stack (ADLS Gen2, Databricks, Synapse, Data Factory, API Management).
• Strong Python and PySpark skills.
• Experience querying and processing data across distributed data clusters.
• Knowledge of distributed data management and memory/compute considerations.
• Understanding of Data Mesh architecture and DevOps mindset with IaC, Git and CI/CD.
• Ability to explain technical topics clearly and collaborate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop production-grade Azure data platforms and PoCs.
• Build, optimize and orchestrate reliable data pipelines for distributed environments.
• Engineer data solutions using ADLS Gen2 and Parquet.
• Develop scalable data processing workloads with Databricks and Spark.
• Design analytics solutions using Synapse and orchestrate data flows with Data Factory.
• Enable integrations through Azure API Management.
• Apply DevOps, Git and CI/CD practices throughout the lifecycle.
• Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep and ARM.
• Diagnose and resolve data and platform issues efficiently.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Take ownership of data infrastructure and adapt to evolving tech and requirements.
