Overview

Senior Infrastructure Engineer in the Retail Business Platform Enablement Team. You’ll be at the forefront of enabling product teams to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient solutions. You’ll lead by example—translating infrastructure best practices into reusable, compliant, and self-service capabilities. Your work will directly impact development teams as they build and run software, while you provide the backbone of reliable infrastructure. You’ll collaborate across domains, mentor engineers, and shape the future of our platform engineering culture. This role is based at our headquarters in Zaandam with hybrid work options.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Leadership: Architect and implement scalable infrastructure solutions in Azure using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, and Ansible. Lead by influence, mentor engineers, and drive technical strategy
• Self-Service Enablement: Build highly reusable modules and automation pipelines that minimize the need for custom development. Enable product teams to provision infrastructure independently, with compliance and security embedded from the start
• Platform Reliability & Automation: Operate and evolve shared services using SRE principles to ensure reliability and resilience
• CI/CD & DevSecOps Enablement: Enhance GitHub Actions pipelines with integrated policy enforcement and automated compliance reporting
• Observability & Cost Transparency: Standardize logging, metrics, and tracing, and implement cost dashboards and alerts to provide visibility into cloud spend and drive optimization
• Migration & Modernization: Support legacy-to-cloud transitions and guide teams in refactoring workloads into modern, event-driven microservices
• Collaboration & Culture: Partner with engineers, engineering managers, product owners, and security engineers to foster psychological safety, continuous learning, and shared ownership

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles
• Deep expertise in Azure (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, and Ansible
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell, etc.)
• Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions or similar), observability frameworks, and DevSecOps practices
• Familiarity with FinOps principles and cost optimization tooling
• A passion for mentoring, documentation, and driving change through influence

Bonus points

• Experience modernizing monolith or ESB middleware into event-driven microservices
• Hands-on with GitHub Copilot or other Gen-AI tools for code/test generation
• Understanding of SRE practices (error budgets, SLO management)
