Job summary

ING is seeking an IT Chapter Lead responsible for a team of 10-12 data engineers focused on translating ING’s reporting challenges into the Finance & Risk integrated data architecture (FRIDA). You will lead cloud-native data platforms, data warehousing, and lakehouse initiatives, while coaching the team and aligning with domain architects.

You will co-create area vision, resource squads, and drive end-to-end data onboarding, quality, and governance across multiple source systems, leveraging

Qualifications

• At least 10 years experience as a data engineer.
• Strong people leadership with deep technical expertise in cloud-native data platforms, data warehousing, lakehouse architecture, and large-scale data engineering.
• Experience with finance data domains such as Accounting, Regulatory Reporting and Financial Risk is valued.
• Some experience coaching other engineers on craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Manages engineers leads hierarchically including recruitment.
• Acts as a technical leader and trusted advisor in cloud-native data platforms, data warehousing, lakehouse architectures, and large-scale data engineering.
• Drives onboarding and integration of multiple source systems into Finance and Risk integrated architecture, ensuring data contracts, data quality, lineage, governance, and operational excellence.
• Balances Run and Change, especially with IT Risk.
• Oversees end-to-end data onboarding lifecycle from source assessment to deployment and operations.
• Promotes reuse of common ingestion patterns, canonical data models, and engineering frameworks.
• Sets an example for life-long learning and innovation.
