Job summary

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) invites applications for an Assistant Professor in the broad field of fluid dynamics and flowing matter. The role leads an independent research program and a team, while actively contributing to education within the Applied Physics degrees.

You will join the Fluids and Flows unit, collaborating across disciplines and with industry to advance fundamental and applied fluid dynamics. A strong publication record and English proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• PhD in (Applied) Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
• At least two years of relevant research experience after the PhD as a postdoctoral researcher or equivalent.
• For TU/e PhD graduates, at least one year of substantive research experience in a genuinely different external scientific environment is expected.
• Demonstrated ability to initiate and conduct high-quality research, evidenced by a strong publication record and other relevant scientific achievements.
• Motivated to teach, contribute to educational processes, and (further) develop as a teacher.
• Serious commitment to development as an educator and a clear view of how the candidate wants to teach and contribute to education.
• Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop and lead your own research program and team.
• Collaborate within the Fluids and Flows unit and the broader TU/e research community.
• Contribute to high-quality education and shape Bachelor/Master curricula in Applied Physics.
• Establish an internationally visible research program and foster cross-disciplinary collaborations.

Education

PhD in physics / mechanical engineering / applied mathematics or related field

2+ years postdoctoral research experience
