Job summary

Octagon Professionals supports the European Space Agency at ESTEC in Noordwijk. The Assistant Financial Controller will assist the Business Unit and Controlling Office with transactional procurement tasks and reporting as part of ESA’s procurement process.

The role involves SAP-based workflow, financial analytics, and collaboration across departments within ESA. A bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in similar roles are required, with strong English and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• ≥2 years in financial controlling, procurement, and contract management.
• Proficient in English; knowledge of another ESA language is a plus.
• Strong MS Excel and MS Outlook; proficient with ERP systems (SAP ESA-P).
• Ability to manage multiple financial processes with accuracy and compliance.
• Experience in multinational or government agency.
• Knowledge of ESA financial and procurement regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, administer, and monitor procurement actions, purchase orders, and contracts.
• Manage procurement and financial processes in ESA’s SAP system (esa-p), ITPM, Excel, and other tools as required.
• Monitor assigned contracts concerning costs, payments, contract changes, deviations, and trends.
• Prepare and review management reports related to financial and contractual matters.
• Ensure data in IT PMO tools for divisional and departmental reporting is complete and accurate.
• Support the Departmental Controller in improving departmental financial and procurement processes.
• Lead changes in procurement, SLA, asset management, and workforce management processes.
• Provide financial and operational analytics to support decision-making and ad-hoc analyses.
• Offer knowledge-based support to department management regarding ESA’s internal financial processes, instructions, and regulations.
