Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the administration and ongoing maintenance of enterprise applications, including Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Investigate application incidents by analysing alerts, system behaviour, logs, and user reports before implementing appropriate resolutions or escalating where necessary.
  • Manage support requests and incidents through the organisation's IT service management platform, ensuring issues are accurately recorded and progressed within agreed service levels.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of application upgrades, software releases, configuration changes, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Work alongside infrastructure, security, application, and third-party support teams to diagnose technical problems and deliver effective solutions.
  • Organise and carry out regular operating system and application patching, taking account of validation, testing, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support technical and compliance audits by completing access reviews, maintaining system records, and ensuring relevant documentation is current and accurate.
  • Contribute to root-cause analysis and problem management activities, identifying recurring issues and recommending preventative improvements.
  • Participate in technology projects, application enhancements, system migrations, and other initiatives designed to improve the organisation's IT services.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and knowledge articles to improve the efficiency and consistency of the support function.
Experience
  • Proven background in application support, systems support, infrastructure support, or a closely related technical role within a medium-to-large organisation.
  • Practical knowledge of ITIL/IT Service Management principles, particularly Incident, Problem, Request, and Change Management.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and associated enterprise infrastructure.
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, switching, and general connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with both Windows and Linux-based servers, with the ability to investigate and resolve technical issues across different platforms.
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic capabilities, with a structured approach to troubleshooting complex application and infrastructure problems.
  • Previous exposure to LIMS, validated systems, or other applications operating within a highly controlled or regulated environment would be highly advantageous.
  • Confident communicator who can work effectively with technical colleagues, suppliers, application users, and senior stakeholders.
  • Highly organised and capable of managing competing priorities while working independently and taking ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Comfortable working in an environment where system availability, security, documentation, and regulatory compliance are critical.
  • Demonstrable ability to understand unfamiliar applications and technologies quickly and provide reliable ongoing support.
Location

This role is fully onsite, five days per week, based at the company's office in Assen, Netherlands.

Benefits
  • Opportunity to support business-critical applications within a global healthcare organisation.
  • Work in a collaborative IT environment with exposure to enterprise technologies and large-scale systems.
