Job summary

Lever, Inc. in the Netherlands is seeking an Expert Team Lead, Engineering to guide a team responsible for producing high-quality training data and evaluations that support advanced AI models.

You will combine hands-on engineering with coaching, performance management, and scalable workflows, translating model requirements into labeling strategies while improving KPIs like quality and throughput.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of professional engineering experience or a Master's/PhD in engineering.
• Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts and data-quality importance.
• Advanced credentials preferred (PE/FE/EIT).
• Experience with data-quality metrics and guideline-driven workflows.
• Ability to review technical work across multiple engineering domains.
• Experience in coaching, training program development, or certification frameworks.
• Hands-on data labeling, annotation, or AI training experience preferred.
• Strong project management and KPI-driven improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end quality and delivery for assigned Human Data projects, reviewing work and ensuring accuracy and guideline adherence.
• Lead, coach, and performance-manage a team of AI Tutors including contractors.
• Oversee labeling and review activities to maintain standards and best practices.
• Ensure adherence to project guidelines, taxonomies, and QA processes.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement efficiency improvements.
• Monitor performance via KPI dashboards and drive improvements in quality and throughput.
• Create and maintain training materials, exercises, and certification benchmarks.
• Manage certification processes and adjust staffing as needed.
• Collaborate with Human Data Managers and Engineering teams to translate requirements into workflows.
• Develop team members and uphold a high-performance culture.
