Job summary
JAC Recruitment seeks a hands-on Operations Professional to oversee daily yard activities for a fast-growing metal recycling company in Penang. You will lead operational teams, plan receiving, sorting, storage, and dispatch, and ensure safe, efficient material handling.
You will supervise blue-collar staff, coordinate truck movements, monitor inventory, and enforce SOPs, safety, and environmental standards while supporting facility expansion.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of operational experience in scrap metal, recycling, steel, foundry, metal processing, industrial waste, demolition, heavy manufacturing, or related industries.
- Experience leading or supervising blue-collar operational teams.
- Good understanding of yard operations and material movement.
Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day yard operations and allocate manpower based on priorities.
- Plan and coordinate receiving, unloading, sorting, storage, processing, loading and dispatch.
- Ensure proper identification, segregation, labeling, and storage of metals.
- Monitor scrap materials such as mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass.
- Identify contamination, mixed grades and incorrect classifications.
- Coordinate truck movements and loading schedules to improve efficiency.
- Monitor inventory locations and support stock control and reporting.
- Enforce SOPs, safety requirements, PPE and environmental standards.
- Monitor workforce productivity, attendance and performance.
- Support operational improvements and facility expansion.
- Prepare operational reports for management.

As part of its expansion plans and facility growth, the company is seeking a hands‑on operations professional to oversee daily yard activities, optimize workflows, and lead operational teams to ensure safe, efficient, and productive operations.
- Supervise day-to-day yard operations and allocate manpower based on operational priorities.
- Plan and coordinate receiving, unloading, sorting, grading, storage, processing, loading, and dispatch activities.
- Ensure proper identification, segregation, labeling, and storage of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Monitor various scrap materials including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper, brass, cables, and other recyclable industrial metals.
- Identify material contamination, mixed grades, foreign materials, and incorrect classifications.
- Coordinate truck movements, loading schedules, and unloading activities to improve yard efficiency.
- Monitor inventory locations and support accurate stock control and reporting.
- Enforce company SOPs, safety requirements, PPE compliance, and environmental standards.
- Monitor workforce productivity, attendance, discipline, and overall performance.
- Support management in implementing operational improvements and facility expansion activities.
- Prepare operational reports and provide regular updates to management.
- Minimum 5 years of operational experience within scrap metal, recycling, steel, foundry, metal processing, industrial waste, demolition, heavy manufacturing, or related industries.
- Previous experience leading or supervising blue-collar operational teams.
- Good understanding of yard operations, material movement, loading and unloading processes.
- Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper, and brass is highly advantageous.
- Experience in scrap segregation, grading, inventory management, and material recovery processes.
- Familiarity with workplace safety practices and industrial operating procedures.
- Able to communicate effectively with operators, drivers, contractors, warehouse personnel, and management.
- Basic knowledge of inventory records, reporting, and operational documentation.
- Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia; ability to communicate in English and/or Mandarin will be an added advantage.
- Possession of forklift, machinery operation, safety, or technical certifications will be beneficial.
