Qualifications

• Valid driving licence.
• Good communication skills in English and/or Malay.
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
• Certifications in automotive trades or relevant technical qualifications.
• Experience with workshop management software is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Supervise workshop staff, including mechanics and technicians, ensuring safety protocols and standards.
• Plan and allocate work tasks efficiently to team members based on skill levels and workload.
• Monitor the quality of work performed, conducting inspections and ensuring repairs meet standards.
• Maintain workshop equipment and machinery in optimal condition, arranging maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Manage inventory of tools, parts and materials, ordering stock and controlling wastage.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety regulations and company policies.
• Liaise with service advisors and management regarding job progress and customer requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to workshop staff.
• Keep accurate records of work completed, time tracking and maintenance logs.
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to technical work.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Workshop Foreman to join our team at EGD TRADING. This is a full-time position based in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. As Workshop Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing all workshop operations, managing technical teams, and ensuring the highest standards of vehicle repairs and maintenance are delivered to our customers. This is a key leadership role that bridges operational management and technical expertise within our automotive service facility.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage workshop staff, including mechanics, technicians and apprentices, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company standards
• Plan and allocate work tasks efficiently to team members based on skill levels and current workload
• Monitor the quality of work performed, conducting inspections and ensuring all repairs meet company and industry standards
• Maintain workshop equipment and machinery in optimal working condition, arranging maintenance and repairs as needed
• Manage inventory of tools, parts and materials, ordering stock as required and controlling wastage
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, environmental standards and company policies across all workshop operations
• Liaise with service advisors and management regarding job progress, customer requirements and any technical issues
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to workshop staff, supporting their skill development and career progression
• Keep accurate records of work completed, time tracking and maintenance logs
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to technical work and service quality

What we’re looking for

• Valid driving licence and clean driving record
• Good communication skills in English and/or Malay
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and quality control
• Certification in automotive trades or relevant technical qualifications is highly desirable
• Experience with workshop management software or computerised systems is an advantage
