Job summary

Ucsi Auto Sdn. Bhd. in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Automotive Foreman to oversee day-to-day workshop operations.

You will lead a team of technicians and mechanics, ensuring work meets our quality, safety and efficiency standards while keeping customers informed. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years as an automotive technician with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role, and holds an NVQ/HNC or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification or certification in automotive engineering or equivalent.
• 5–7 years’ experience as an automotive technician or mechanic, with 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
• Broad knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic techniques.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

About the role

Ucsi Auto Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an experienced Automotive Foreman to join our team in Taman Connaught, Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in overseeing day-to-day operations on the workshop floor. As Automotive Foreman, you will be responsible for leading a team of technicians and mechanics, ensuring that all work meets our high standards of quality, safety and efficiency. This role is integral to maintaining our reputation for excellence in automotive engineering and service delivery, directly impacting both operational performance and customer satisfaction.

What you'll be doing

• Supervising and coordinating the work of automotive technicians and mechanics across all workshop activities
• Ensuring all repair and maintenance work is completed to the highest quality standards and within agreed timeframes
• Conducting safety inspections and enforcing workplace health and safety protocols across the workshop floor
• Allocating jobs to team members based on their skills, qualifications and workload capacity
• Training and mentoring technicians in best practices, new techniques and proper use of equipment and tools
• Monitoring inventory levels of parts, tools and materials, and coordinating with suppliers as needed
• Reviewing technical documentation, work orders and service reports to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Identifying performance issues and implementing corrective actions to improve productivity and efficiency
• Liaising between the workshop floor, management and customers regarding job progress and any issues that arise
• Maintaining detailed records of completed work, parts usage and team performance metrics
• Ensuring vehicles are handled safely and that the workshop environment is kept clean and well-organised

What we're looking for

• Formal qualification or certification in automotive engineering or a recognised automotive trade (NVQ, HNC or equivalent)
• Minimum 5-7 years' experience working as an automotive technician or mechanic, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or foreman role
• Comprehensive knowledge of automotive systems, repair procedures, diagnostic techniques and workshop equipment
• Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues at all levels
• In-depth understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to automotive workshops
• Proficiency in using workshop management software and computer systems
• Valid driving licence and the ability to test drive vehicles where necessary
• Experience with luxury or high-performance vehicles is highly desirable
• Knowledge of diagnostic equipment and modern vehicle technology is a plus
