Job summary

Aspiro in Malaysia is seeking an IT Server Support Engineer to provide L1/L2 support for VMware, Windows Server, Hyper-V and backup systems. You will install, configure, and maintain VMware ESXi, vCenter, Windows, and Linux, and monitor performance for optimal uptime. The role includes disaster recovery planning and security-related incident handling.

Candidates should have 2–3 years’ server support experience, with knowledge of AD, DNS, backup, and SAN. Mandarin will be an added advantage.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s in Computer Science or IT related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in a server support role.
• Hands-on experience with VMware/ESXi/vCenter, Windows and Linux in a distributed environment.
• Knowledge of Backup and Restore, Active Directory, DNS, and server monitoring.
• Ability to work on a rotational schedule; Mandarin is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Provide L1/L2 support for VMware, Windows Server, Hyper-V, and backup systems, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Install, configure, and maintain VMware ESXi, vCenter, Windows, and Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Perform regular backup checks and support basic SAN storage operations.
• Monitor system performance, health checks, patching, and preventive maintenance.
• Handle security-related incident tickets, share investigation findings and preventive actions.
• Support disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Suggest improvements and provide reporting with recommendations under guidance.

What You'll Do:

• Provide L1/L2 support for VMware, Windows Server (2003–2025), Hyper-V, and backup systems, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementing permanent fixes.
• Install, configure, and maintain systems such as VMware ESXi, vCenter, Windows, and Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Perform regular backup checks and support basic SAN storage operations.
• Monitor system performance, conduct health checks, patching, and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal uptime and capacity.
• Work on security-related incident tickets, provide the investigation findings and preventive action when required.
• Support disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Suggest improvements and provide reporting with recommendations under guidance.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• Candidate possess at least with Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or any other IT related field.
• At least 2-3 years of experience in server support role.
• Hands-on first-level or second-level support of VMware, ESXi, vCenter, Windows, Hyper-V in a Distributed Enterprise Environment.
• Knowledge in Backup and restore, Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, Server Monitoring and Server hardware environment.
• Able to work on rotational schedule (8am – 5pm, 9am – 6pm and 11am – 8pm)
• Candidate with the ability to communicate and write in Mandarin will be an added advantage
