Job summary

Wasco Process Engineering Sdn Bhd (formerly Jutasama Sdn Bhd) is seeking a senior Welding Engineer to lead the development and verification of Welding Specifications (WPS) and PQR in full alignment with ASME codes. You will supervise WPQ/WQT, monitor welder performance, and ensure compliance with client specifications.

You will work with QAQC, project managers, and engineers, coordinate NDT activities, investigate weld failures, perform root cause analysis, and support audits by third parties

Qualifications

• Ten years of experience as welding engineer.
• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Welding Inspector Certification (AWS, CSWIP) or Welding Engineer designations (IWE, EWE) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII (Div. 1 & 2), Section IX, and AWS D1.1.

Responsibilities

• Draft, evaluate and quality Welding Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) per ASME Codes.
• Supervise and verify Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ/WQT) and maintain continuity logs for welders.
• Monitoring, evaluation welders and welding operator performance, and rejection rate.
• All welding, pre-heating, and PWHT processes satisfy required standards and client specifications.
• Coordinate Non- Destructive Testing (NDT), interpret inspection results, investigate weld failure, an perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Monitor the receipt, storage, and traceability of base materials, filler metals, and consumables to prevent metallurgical contamination.
• Manage technical authority during client and third-party audits.
• Working with QAQC manager, project managers, and engineers to discuss results and recommend corrective actions.
• Liaison with 3rd Party Inspector (TPI), Authorized Inspector (AI) and Client rep.

Qualification & Experience

Minimum ten (10) years' experience as Welding engineer.

Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, or Mechanical Engineering.

Professional Welding Inspector Certification (e.g. AWS, CSWIP) or Welding Engineer designations (e.g. IWE, EWE) as highly preferred.

Deep understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, specifically Section VIII (Div. 1 & 2), Section IX, and AWSD1.1.

Strong problem solving skills to handle complex cases, high attention to detail, cross communication abilities and make sound judgements under pressure.
